Regulator launches digital fundraising badge
The Fundraising Regulator has launched a digital fundraising badge intended to help charities show their commitment to legal, open, honest and respectful fundraising.
The badge allows charities and other organisations to link to their entry in the regulator’s directory, enabling the public to confirm their registered status.
In a blog post, Daisy Houghton, head of communications and corporate services at the Fundraising Regulator, said the badge aligns the body with other UK regulators that provide similar digital tools.
“By displaying the digital fundraising badge, you show your dedication to upholding the highest standards in fundraising practice.”
Houghton said more than 200 fundraising organisations have already adopted the badge, but added the print version of the fundraising badge is still available for materials such as charity bags, direct mail, street fundraising, email signatures or printed advertisements.
The Fundraising Regulator designed the badge to help charities increase transparency and build trust with their supporters.
The digital badge automatically updates every year and allows users to verify a fundraiser’s registration status with a single click, since the badge is linked directly to a charity’s directory entry.
It works across devices and websites, is available in colour or black and white, in Welsh-bilingual and in scalable sizing, Houghton added.
Charities can adopt the badge by logging into their Fundraising Regulator account and adding the website domain where it will be displayed.
Users should then visit the ‘get your digital badge’ page to select their preferred badge style before copying and pasting the HTML code onto their website, Houghton said.
