Charities Aid Foundation reveals next chair

The Charities Aid Foundation has appointed Sir Edward Braham as its next chair.

Braham has a background in professional and financial services and is chair of the investment advice company M&G plc, a non-executive member of the HM Treasury board and chair of the Lord Mayor’s Appeal’s board of trustees.

He will succeed Sir James Leigh-Pemberton, who has been chair of CAF since 2019 and on the  board since 2018.

Neil Heslop, chief executive of CAF, said Braham would bring “an enormous amount to the work of leading our organisation in the years to come”.

He said: “Edward brings extensive experience in the US and UK and has real enthusiasm for and insightful commitment to several philanthropy roles.

“We are extremely grateful to Sir James for his seven years of distinguished service on our board and as chair.

“He has skilfully overseen such a significant period for CAF, including helping us navigate challenges such as the pandemic and mark our centenary.”

Braham, who will take up his new role in July on a six-year term, said CAF “plays a truly unique role bringing together donors and charities, which has never been more needed to respond to challenges in the UK and globally”.

He said: “I look forward to working with my fellow trustees and the wider organisation to support the amazing work that CAF does.”
